The Oscars. If you know Jonny-Ri then you know I can’t wait for the Oscars every year. The film industry has always been a passion of mine and the oscars celebrate that industry in all its glory. Here are my picks for the awards tomorrow night. I have seen nearly every film up for any major nominations except for There Will Be Blood (which I am hoping to see tonight) so these are my choices up to now.
Actor in a Leading Role: So far my choice is George Clooney in Michael Clayton
Actor in a Supporting Role: Javier Dardem for No Country For Old Men, all the way. And not just because he reminds me of Andre the Giant.
Actress in a Leading Role: Ellen Page for Juno 100%
Actress in a Supporting Role: I am torn between Tilda Swinton for Michael Clayton and Ruby Dee for American Gangster
Animated Feature Film: Ratatouille because Happy Feet is the only penguin cartoon worth watching, not Surf’s Up.
Art Direction: American Gangster, but Golden Compass was good too.
Cinematography: No Country For Old Men, great shots all throughout this one.
Costume Design: Across The Universe just because I want it to win something and I didn’t see anything spectacular in the others.
Directing: Jason Reitman, Juno, so he becomes the youngest director to receive this award.
Documentary Feature: Sicko, made me want to move to Canada.
Film Editing: Bourne Ultimatum, great editing direction in this film.
Makeup: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
Music (Score): Either Michael Clayton or Ratatouille, love the french music
Music (Song): I don’t care who wins, I love them all
Sound Editing & Mixing: Bourne Ultimatum or Transformers, just for that sound effect that happens when they morph.
Visual Effects: Pirates of the Caribbean, gotta love a ship full of Jack Sparrows
Writing (Adapted Screenplay): No Country For Old Men
Wirintg (Original Screenplay): Juno
BEST PICTURE: JUNO
What are your picks for tomorrow night?

I have decided that when I become a big name photographer and can start pulling off crazy artsy stuff I am going to do THIS. Fyi, the article is one page per artist so click through the pages to see the different people.

Personally I would go with white. What color would you choose?

First off, I can’t get enough of this video:
I don’t care if you are a promoter of my man Barack or not, you can’t tell me that’s not an inspirational speech and video.
Second off, you want a good summation of what this voting year is really about for me? Go check out SHALOM and read his post on Election 2008.

Third, I get to boast my excitement about the current count of delegates for the democratic campaigners is in the favor of Obamalama and if he takes Texas the next few months may become a little less stressful for me in the world of politics.

And lastly, Ima let you in on some newly released artwork by our guys at the Obey company. The owner is a supporter of Obama and a good friend of Derric, my “coworker” at Monster, and he had us print a massive banner (im talking huge) to be hung up on the side of a building right on Sunset Blvd in LA. Derric is there this weekend watching them put it up so he will have pics of the actual banner up later. For now, I have the artwork at my disposal and I think its pretty sweet looking as far as vector art goes..

Once again I went on a movie trailer marathon and here are some of my picks for ones I am seriously looking forward too. As Adam put it so well, some are from my Fanboy and some are total Cinesnob films.
First off, The Visitor, I am looking forward to mainly because it involves an instrument that I am sort of partial to:
Then there is The Forbidden Kingdom. Jackie Chan AND Jet Li are in this one so your head may explode when you see it:
As far as Smart People goes, I don’t give a rat’s ass about Dennis Quaid & Sarah Jessica Parker’s love story, I am going to see it for Ellen Page & Thomas Hayden Church:
Defiance is the perfect formula for a Jonny-Ri film. A WWII Nazi film with Daniel Craig and a full cast of other usual Nazi movie actors:
As far as Judd Apatow’s career goes, I loved 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up was ok, Forgetting Sarah Marshall looks promising:
And to finish it off, a trailer from a film genre I normally can’t stand. That said, I have a weakness for Adam Sandler and his crazy antics:

What? Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of John Alvin. Well, for those of you not in the know, he was one of the greatest movie poster artists of our time and he died recently, on February 6. Here are some of my favorites of his but believe me, he has a lot more in his portfolio that you will have seen before. Its a sad thing when an industry I love so much loses talent like this.
