Fact…

…I am and have been a fan and reader of comic books since I was young and I used to be quite the sketcher in my day when I took the time to do it(like during church sermons, school lectures, boring stuff like that). Here is visual proof for both:

Disneyland Night

Went to DL with my girl, my sis, Lady & Summer a little while ago. Met up with the Loudons later and chilled with them.

Kat makes comments about my smile in pictures but nevertheless, it is infectious and has caught on to those around me:

I think Summer was doing an impression of the velociraptors from Jurassic Park in this shot:

And one more noir-esque photo of Mr. Eon.

I AM NOT PREGNANT…

hotflash

but I am hit with frequent hot flashes throughout the day due to the fact that I have Kalman syndrome and have to take hormonal supplements that effe with my biological system on a consistent basis. Unless you are a woman with a baby in you or have gone through menopause it is hard to describe how they feel. Imagine feeling hot, even feeling like you are sweating but the temperature in the room hasn’t changed, there is no perspiration on you and you can’t do anything about it until it passes.

KATHY BLOGGED ABOUT IT FIRST…

but I am the one who downloaded her songs and sent Kathy the url to her performance on Carson Daily. This has been my anthem for the last week or so: I am trying to find sheet music for it, I have been unsuccessful thus far.

I AM ON THE COMPUTER SO MUCH AT WORK…

redeye

it has actually gotten to the point that when I get home…I don’t want to even look at a screen. Thus the lack of bloggage in the recent moons. I have to take frequent breaks at work to let my eyes focus on 3-d objects other than a 30″ LCD screen and allow my wrist to realize that there are other positions it can be in other than a 180 degree angle flush with a dusk. Don’t wanna get the tunnel of carpal like mi madre…even though the wrist guard braces are so fetching in winter fashion this year.

WASN’T IN THE KNOW FOR V FOR VENDETTA, DIDN’T GET THE INFO ON 300…

but I got the jump on the next film, Watchmen. Went to the library last week and found the graphic novel and just finished reading it so now I am even more stoked about this film coming out.

and last but not least…

FINALLY, GOOD MOVIES ARE STILL BEING MADE

Saw Dan In Real Life with the KitKat & Hegadaber (thats right sis, I pulled that one out) and was joyfully relieved to discover it was a great film with a beautiful story, characters I fell in love with a soundtrack I had to get the next day (Sondre Lerche, check him out). Peter Hedges needs to pick up the pace and give us some more movies, two just aint cutting it for me now.

The Neverending Story

October 23rd, 2007 by admin

I watched it this weekend after we checked it out from the library on Saturday. I’ve seen it referenced a bunch of times in pop culture the last few months and when I saw it on the shelf I had to get it. I loved this movie when I was a kid, I always thought my dog looked like Falkor when she stuck her head out the window in the car.

Funniest reference I’ve seen lately was this clip:

[googlevideo]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5422538216249657025&q=family+guy+neverending+site%3Avideo.google.com&total=5&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0[/googlevideo]

and yes, after watching The Neverending Story as an adult for the first time I realized it was a very over the top movie with cheesy acting and cheap animatronics…but it still rocked.

oh yeah, LOTR fans will think this is funny. Remember the dude who rides the racing snail in the beginning of the movie? Thats Deep Roy. They dubbed his voice over with some heavily noticable American guys voice (Deep Roy has a thick Indian accent) but it is him, I thought that was funny.

If you talk to my wife about what I tell her when the issue of worrying about what other people think about you arises, especially when it comes to strangers, she will most likely tell you that the way I stand on the issue is simple. I.D.G.A.R.A.

But, as I went to Vons just now to grab a few items for my sweetness, I have to be honest and admit I was a little embarrassed that the only two items I was purchasing this evening were…

I have already done the “cramps” medicine run but that didn’t make me flinch, everyone knows it is for your wife or girlfriend. But this…this was quite humorous and made me smile as I watched the girl behind the counter ring them up and bag them for me.

I dedicate this post to my wife, without whom I probably would never have little adventures like this. (fyi, i got permission before i wrote this).

Hell, my name is Jon and I am a Nerd.

October 18th, 2007 by admin

and this was just too cool to not share, even if Evan is the only one who geeks out with me.

Created by the artist Mark Brooks, a well known comic artist.

I’m attending the Star Wars Fan Days this weekend October 20-21 as a guest artist and I wanted to do something for the show. There’s a lot of artwork out there most as posters, lithographs or prints so I wanted to do something different. While watching The original Star wars I realized that talk of money is thrown around quite a lot but you never actually see it (other than Han flipping the bartender a coin after shooting Greedo). I thought it would be cool to design a piece of Imperial currency as I saw it. I designed it mostly after American money but used some European influences as well.

Hope you dig!
-Mark
